The History of Micawber Tavern

Micawber Tavern is celebrating 100 years established. In 1923 Micawber Tavern, owned by the A'Vard family, begun as Micawber Tea Rooms, selling fruit, confectionary, cigarettes soft drinks as well as traditional afternoon tea.

Once upon a time, during the 1940's the A'Vard family wrote to the local paper complaining about the restrcitions on customers not being able to dance.

Over the years, Micawber Tavern has filed an application to become a hotel, hosted John Cain (current premier of Victoria) amongst other politicians for a dinner, burned down and was rebuilt, had a tree come down crushing a part of the building. Over the past 100 years, Micawber Tavern has been a destination for the locals and he tourists.

We are proud, that 100 Years on, although with many changes and renovations - Micawber Tavern still remains the same.
